Directions - Top of Goat Hill - Lake George

From New York City (Time roughly 4 1/2 hours)

From Manhattan, take the George Washington Bridge to New Jersey and proceed to the Palisades Parkway north to the New York State Thruway (I-87). Take I-87 north to Albany, Exit 24. Immediately after the toll booth, take Exit 1N (I-87 North to Montreal). Continue north on I-87 for 50 miles to Lake George - Exit 20. Turn left and go 1/2 mile passing the outlet shopping area. At the stop light turn right on to Route 149. Follow 149 approximately 5 miles. At the stop light, take a left onto 9L (Stewarts will be on the left). When you first see the lake, the road will split around the lake, take the right fork onto the Pilot Knob Road. Follow the road for 4 miles. Pass the YMCA camp, the town beach and there will be a Private-Do Not Enter sign for Camp Andrews Bay. Ignore the sign. Slowly continue on the dirt road. Cross the small bridge and take a right. Slowly follow the road. You will come to a very steep hill. This is Goat Hill. The parking is at the top. Please be mindful that the hill is single lane and cars must come up and down.

Alternate Route from New York City

Take the Major Deegan Expressway to I-87 north and cross the Hudson River via the Tappan Zee Bridge. Proceed north on I-87 (New York State Thruway) to Albany Exit 24 and immediately after the toll booth take Exit 1N (I-87 north to Montreal). Continue to follow directions from second paragraph above.

From Boston (Time roughly 4 hours)

Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) West towards Albany. After toll, continue to follow signs for New York State Thruway/I-87. Take NYS Thruway north to Albany Exit 24. Immediately after toll, take Exit 1N (I-87 North to Montreal). Continue north on I-87 for 50 miles to Lake George - Exit 20. Turn left and go 1/2 mile passing the outlet shopping area. At the stop light turn right on to Route 149. Follow 149 approximately 5 miles. At the stop light, take a left onto 9L (Stewarts will be on the left). Take the New York State Thruway (I-90) East to Albany exit 24. Go north on the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and get off at exit 20. Turn left and go 1/2 mile passing the outlet mall stretch. You will come to a stop light with the Ice Cream Barn turn right onto Route 149. Follow 149 approximately 5 miles. At the stop light, take a left onto 9L (Stewarts will be on the left). When you first see the lake, the road will split around the lake, take the right fork on the Pilot Knob Road. Follow the road for 4 miles.
