Cabin Activities
- Hiking the local trail to Buck Mountain, First Look Out, Black Bear Ledge
- Trail Running to Calves Pen, a local rock formation to jump into the lake (1/2 mile).
- Swimming around Comfort Bay.
- Playing in the water at the dock.
- Fishing off the dock or by boat.
- Snorkeling off the dock to collect muscles, snails and rocks.
- Lounging in the water on floats.
- Kayaking up the lake to Phelps Island, Log Bay, Huckleberry Island or The Narrows.
- Waterskiing or wakeboarding around a protected natural inlet.
- Nature Watching, the following animals have all been seen on the property; deer, porcupines, woodpeckers, squirrels, chipmunks, salamanders, trout, bass, perch, owls, raccoons, stick bugs, dozen of bird varieties and in the winter occasionally bears.
- Rock Climbing on Pilot Knob Mountain, Buck mountain or other local areas.
- Canoeing across Comfort Bay to the frog and lily pad marsh area.
- BBQing, on the large deck looking over the lake.
- Gaming: board games, cards, puzzles, etc...
- Sunning on the large cabin porch in privacy or on the dock at the lakeside.
- Enjoying the 50 foot natural water fall just 400 feet down the road (only during run off or after rain).
- Making Smores, the fireplace is ideal for roasting marshmallows.
- Reading, Nothing beats a great book in front of a fire or in lounge chair on a deck.
- Watching sailboats and motorboats travel up and down the lake.
- Walking a short half mile down the road to the local free public sand beach for Fort Ann Residents (bathroom facilities and lifeguard on duty in season).
*Note: water equipment or boats are not provided. You are welcome to bring your own canoes, kayaks, water toys, motor boats, etc and use our dock facilities
Enjoying the Local Area
Fishing or Waterskiing: Bring your own boat, or charter one locally. We are near several local hot spots for salmon, trout, pike, perch, and bass.
Golfing: Several championship golf courses are in the area.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking: Both short rides and extended tours are offered on the Hudson and Sacandaga Rivers from April 1 to October 1.
Mountain biking: Gore Mountain ski slopes are open for biking in the summer and early fall. The Trails to Buck Mountain and Hog Town also provide good mountain biking.
Museums: In Glens Falls, the Hyde Collection for fine art and the Chapman for local history. Both open year round. In Blue Mountain Lake (an hour's drive), the Adirondack Museum offers extensive exhibits on Adirondack history. An all-day excursion. Open late May to mid-October.
Dinner theatre: The Lake George Dinner Theatre in Lake George Village. Equity actors playing six days a week from mid-June to mid-October.
Ballet and concerts: Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) with performances in the summer by the New York City Ballet, the Philadelphia Orchestra, and rock and jazz groups (40-minute drive).
Thoroughbred and harness racing: The Saratoga Race Track, a world-class flat track, is open from late July through Labor Day. The harness-racing track is open February through November. Both are in Saratoga Springs (40-minute drive).
Amusement parks: Six Flags Great Escape, a truly big-time amusement park experience, and Magic Forest, whose setting really is a forest. (Both about 20-minute drive.)
Dinning: Many top rated restaurants are in the area including The Ridge Terrace, The Log Jam, The Algonquin, The Georgian, Porreca's Restaurant and many more.
Shopping: The Miracle Mile Outlet area is a popular shopping destination. Other areas to shop include the Aviation Mall in Glens Falls and Lake George Village. (15-25 minute drive)
Antiquing: There are several pockets of Antique shops throughout the lower Adirondacks including the town of Warrensburg, Whitehall and Bolton Landing.
Historic Locations: Several great historic sites are nearby including Fort William Henry, Fort Ticonderoga, and Saratoga Battlefield.
